LIANNE NOYE - REGION 4 CHAIRWOMAN

I am married with 2 grown up children, and perhaps like many people, I began making novelty cakes for their birthdays.  Making sugar flowers was always an ambition of mine and when my children started working I decided to take some 'me' time and tried to enrol in the Local Authority evening classes, but unfortunately they did not receive any funding, so the teacher chose to run a private class for a few of us and the rest as they say is history - I was hooked!

I have been a member of our local branch, Dukeries, Retford, for the last 7 years and the secretary for the last 5.
I regularly attend the R4 meetings and have taken an active part in the last two exhibitions we have held.

I work full time for a local polyurethane company in the sales office and beside Sugarcraft I enjoy watching my son play football and take part in fund raising for Breast Cancer .

JULIE COTTON - REGION 4 SECRETARY

I have been an avid fan of sugarcraft for many years and make cakes for family and friends. Initially being self-taught, then tutored by friends, I finally completed a 4 year part time course to advanced level in both sugarpaste and royal icing. I am a member of my local branch, Dukeries, Retford, where I hold the posts of Chairwoman and Programme Secretary.

Sugarcraft aside, I work on a full-time basis and I am employed as a Senior Officer in Her Majesty's Prison Service.  My main interests outside of work, are my 2 precious hobbies of which one is Sugarcraft and the other being Rugby League.  I am a massive supporter of the Leeds Rhinos.  I am involved in the maintaining and upkeep of the BSG Website and in addition I hold a position of one of the moderators on the BSG Website Messageboard.

BARBARA CORBETT - REGION 4 TREASURER

I am married to Brian and we have 4 children, who have all flown the nest and 7 grandchildren (number 8 due next March) three of which are members of Burntwood Cygnets.  I started making cakes for my eldest grandson, Ryan who is now 17, but they were never quite right.  In a cake shop, talking as you do, someone suggested I attend on of Linda Thacker's classes at Rushall, 3 City & Guilds later I feel more confident and really enjoy this art.  I am secretary of Burntwood Branch and have been Regional Rep for Region 4 for the past 3 years holding the post as Treasurer.  Burntwood (my local branch) has a strong Cygnets group which meet every month and I really enjoy helping, its surprising what you learn from helping them.

I am retired, and although I have health problems with my back and hip, it doesn't stop my enjoying my hobby and my 20 month old labrador.

WENDY WRIGHT - REGION 4 CYGNET
CO-ORDINATOR

I took up sugarcraft as a hobby and then progressed though the City & Guilds qualifications, as they were then and finally moved on to Dudley College where I gained a Level 3 Diploma in Design & Craft.
I became a BSG member 10 years ago (so a new girl really) but during that time, I have held every post bar treasurer at my local branch, Burntwood, Walsall.  I worked for 6 years as a Regional Representative, which is how I became involved in the CRB offices amongst everything else.  My association with children goes a long way (Mum to three and a Grandma to 9, a joke that isn't really that funny, ah-ah).
I trained as a Nursery Nurse and worked as a peripatetic Nursery Nurse with mums and toddlers within the community.  I have worked alongside others at Burntwood Cygnets, and introduced a Beaver Colony to the Local Scout Group. I have undertaken lots of training with regard to working with children and vulnerable adults and think that protecting the children and ourselves is a worthy cause in times such as we have today.
I am also part of the Guild Assessors panel, whereby, on invitation I am able to assess new Demonstrators to the Guild standards.
